Connectionless

May 20, 2010

Without connecting to the father we loose it all. Our focus turns way to the world if we are not in constant community with him. Without some form of prayer or being in the word we are spending time in this world.

There is no commandment to commit such a time yet this truth reveals itself in practice. A tree is known by the yield of its fruit (Matthew 12:13). Seeing one’s yield with and without the community are as different as night and day.

We cannot make this connection once. We must seek to obtain it with every breath we take and even between breaths. It must come to be a connection for everything at every given moment. For just as his mercies are renewed each day as must ours for him be as well. But take heart.

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. (2 Corinthians 4:16 ESV)

This is not a secure connection. It must also be guarded and fought for daily. We must fight to keep our day holy and set apart from the world. We must seek to cultivate that connection and fight to keep it guarded. Lest something will come to us and take it away.

We will then follow it and not our community with the Lord and fall prey to the world once again captivating our hearts and minds away from him.

We must fight yes but still there is much to take heart.

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith. (1 John 5:4)
