The Facts
Title: Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God
Author: Francis Chan
Publisher: David C. Cook
Pages: 192

What can be said of this little gem? Its a short read but its packed. It does leave you at times overwhelmed and in awe. It does make you want to go back and re-read some parts of it. The book is only the start of it.

There is also a website that goes along with the book There you find there are videos for each chapter. During the book he challenges you at one point to put the book down and read some scripture. Very well done this is not the “end all be all” book. No it is a sign pointing to God. It was more of an experience to have read this than just reading a book.

If you are on the website I do highly recommend that you check out the video section and click on the one titled “Just Stop and Think.” Yeah its a fifteen minute clip of him carrying around a surfboard but hes not preaching at you. No hes talking to you and telling you the wonders of God.

In fact the book is written that way too. It does not come across as too preachy. It is very much like him sitting down with you and talking. Not for his own glory but to show the love of God. This was very evident not only in the book but in the videos as well.

To be honest the only thing I can say about this is not thanking Francis but rather thanking God for putting such a spirit in him that can speak of his mercy and grace so beautifully that helps us see a better picture of his love for us.

Is this book a keeper? Definitely not. Very big no on that one. Get rid of the book now. Give it to someone else that needs to be reminded of his love. Give it to someone who does not know of his love. Read it together with someone.

I do highly recommend purchasing this book in any form.
